The game ends up feeling like one of those really impressive interactive simulators in a museum that’s been ported over to PC rather than something fully-fledged that takes advantage of the platform. Use different methods of attacking efficiently. Teamwork is essential in Piloting a carrier, one wrong move, one misheard command, everything could go wrong in a matter of seconds.but make sure to always protect your supply lines from enemy raids. When you take an Island, you can start exploiting its resources immediately, use it to replenish your carrier’s supplies, ammunition, vehicles, etc.Strategize your approach, haphazardly wandering in with your carrier will result in death, use the plethora of tools provided to gather intel your radar for example can get you the position of each enemy in the area, the approach you take will always play a big part in the outcome. The Weapon systems you can use include Gun turrets, Missile Silos, Torpedoes, Fighters, and landing vehicles each one of them can be manually piloted by a member of your crew. In Carrier Command 2, you and your team take command of a futuristic carrier, operate every facet of the ship’s systems, utilizing a wide array of weaponry, use every means at your disposal to capture several islands in a battle for supremacy against AI or human-piloted Carriers. I just might try that out.Carrier Command 2 is a military sim, real-time co-op strategy game developed by the newly revived MicroProse, this once legendary game company made many beloved strategy games from the late ’80s to the early ’00s. I also played all the Archimedean Dynasty and Subwar games. Back when Lucasarts was not just Star Wars. (A few seconds of google-fu applied to the brain later) Yeah! That one was fantastic. that rings a bell, but I can't for the life of me remember it. I'm sorely disappointed it's such a underrepresented genre, but at least CC2 is a real good remake. I've got hostile waters (old favourite) as well as Carrier command: Gaea Mission (It doesn't scratch the same itch nearly as well, but as you say, it looks nice). depending on the skill of whoever you're playing with, of course. If anything the fact you can switch to controlling any of them makes it a bit easier than playing with real people who you have to actually rely on instead. Scavenger SV4 is an interesting little game that has the same sort of feel and also involves walking around between stations on ship while remote controlling a drone, but it's very singleplayer and not really RTS at all unlike most of the above. That said the genre is so small that it would be odd not to mention it, and it does -look- very pretty. Carrier Command 1 is still actually pretty fun, though the UI is a little obtuse, and you'll need to emulate it via dosbox or something.Ĭarrier Command: Gaea Mission has some fun but you have to work for it, it's not as easy to access as any of the above three options. Barotrauma is very playable with the bots.
